Iron: What foods and in what quantities they contain?

• The recommended daily intake of iron is 30 mgr during pregnancy and 15 mg during lactation. In infants under 6 months: 6mg, and older than 6 months: 10mg. Children should consume 10mg of calcium per day.

• In preparing the table is taken into account the foods richest in iron.

• Of the foods that are not included it may not be good sources of iron as well not have any information.

• The values are for cooked or raw as the predominant form of consumption.

• It is important to note that the iron from meat is much more absorbable than the iron in plant foods.
